Oliver started his solo recording career in 2010 when he was 17 years old. Initially, he self-released his music under the name Tree. But in the next year, he signed a contract with R&S Records.
However, he took a break from music and went to study technology at the California Institute of the Arts. Then in 2016, he returned and made his television debut by performing Getter on the show Last Call with Carson Daly.
