Tim once watched a viral video from Occupy Wall Street, and then he purchased a one-way bus ticket to New York. On 20 September 2011, he joined the Occupy Wall Street protestors, and there he met Henry Ferry, with whom he formed a media company named The Other 99.
At that time, Tim began live-streaming the protests with his cell phone. Moreover, while reporting on Occupy Wall Street, he used the live chat option to answer questions from viewers.
He even let his viewers direct him on where to shoot footage. Tim modified the toy remote-controlled Parrot AR Drone and software to do aerial surveillance and live stream that footage.
