What has changed in the network after the update
Cortina is an optimized protocol that is not compatible with versions earlier than version 1.10.0. For node owners, this is a refusal, without activating the update, the node cannot take part in block verification.
The sensational and long-awaited update of Ethereum Shapella has finally opened up the ability to withdraw coins from staking. Cortina is purely technical in nature. As part of the update, linearization was implemented in X-Chain and all structures, including P-Chain and the transfer of C-Chain to the corresponding protocol. To this end, X-Chain has moved from Avalanche Consensus to Snowman++ Consensus.
Due to linearization, it is supposed to reduce the involvement of computing power in the use of network functionality and increase the efficiency of research. In addition to this ecosystem, other innovations have appeared in the ecosystem:
- Avalanche Warp Messaging (AWM), which receives the process of transferring coins from X-Chain to various exchanges.
- Batch Delegate Rewards on P-Chain, to improve the reward distribution system for validators with high delegate rates.
- Increasing the maximum block size of C-Chain.
