He was born on 25 February 1991 in Ithaca, New York, U.S. He is the son of Jodi and Doug Dake. Moreover, he has two siblings named Corey and Kristin.
He attended Lansing High School, and later on, he got into Cornell University. In college, he competed for the wrestling team.
Moreover, between 2010 to 2013, Kyle became one of the few wrestlers to win four NCAA Division I Wrestling titles. He is also the first wrestler to win each title in four different weight classes.

From (2011 – 2015)
He made his senior freestyle debut at the age of 20 in April 2011. Later on, In June, he competed at the US World Team Trials, where he won against the opponent by 3–2 overall.
In April 2012, he tried to become the US Olympic Team Member at 74 kilos. However, he was defeated in the semifinals.
In 2013, he competed at the 2013 US World Team Trials, but he could not win the best–of–three finales, falling to the defending Olympic and World Champion Jordan Burroughs.
While competing at Heydar Aliyev Golden Grand Prix in Azerbaijan, he severely injured his hand. But still, he topped two–time World Champion in Russia.
However, due to his injury, he could not continue competing for the rest of 2013. He made came back in February 2014 at his championship performance in the Granma Cup. But later on, due to more injuries and infections, he was again sat out until November 2014.
In 2015, he again competed at the US World Team Trials. But this time, also he could not qualify for the world championship. Later on, he did not compete until November and then moved up to 86 kilograms for the US Nationals.
From (2016 – 2018)
In 2016, Kyle only competed at the Alexander Medved Open while placing ninth at the US Olympic Team Trials. In 2017, he moved back to 74 kilograms and won the Grand Prix of Paris.
Later on, he moved up to 79 kilograms and helped the USA team to reach second place at the Club’s World Cup with six flawless technical falls.
In 2018, he competed at the Golden Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin, which is considered one of the most competitive tournaments on Earth other than the World Championship and Summer Olympics. Moreover, Kyle claims the silver medal in the tournament.
Later on, in the same year, he also claimed his second US National title. Kyle made his first US World Team at Final X: State College.
In October 2018, at the age of 27, he first time competed at the World Championships. Furthermore, he even claimed his first World Championship. In the tournament, he flawlessly outscored his opponents by a score of 37–0.
From (2019 – 2022)
In 2019, he could not defend his US World Team spot in June at Final X: Rutgers. So, later on, he made a comeback in July 2019 at the prestigious Grand Prix of Spain, where he won his matches and stood on top of the podium.
In the same year, he competed at his second World Championships and became a two-time world champion. Kyle moved back to 74 Kg to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Later on, he was even scheduled to compete at the US Olympic Team Trials. However, the Olympics was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
In 2021, Kyle claimed the prestigious Grand Prix de France Henri Deglane. In April 2021, he competed at the rescheduled US Olympic Team Trials, and for the first time, he got a chance to represent the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Moreover, due to this, he even competed at the Pan American Continental Championships in May 2021. Kyle claimed the crown after racking up 40 points and helping the USA reach all ten freestyle medals.
In August 2021, he competed at the men’s freestyle 74 kg event of the 2020 Summer Olympics, claiming the Gold Medal. But after the stunning loss, he battled and rallied for the bronze medal and won the bronze medal at the 2020 summer Olympics.
As an Olympic medalist, he automatically got a chance to represent the United States at the 2021 World Championships without competing domestically. Furthermore, in 2021, he even claims his third straight World Championship.
