She was born on 13 May 1958 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. Her father, Murphy Pace Jr, was a pastor of a church, and her mother, Bettie Ann, was a homemaker.
She was raised along with her nine siblings in a small community called Poole Creek. When she was three years old, she broke both her ankles. But she still pulled through.
She has attended the Walter F. George High School in Atlanta, Georgia. From a very young age, she and her eight sisters fell in love with music.
Moreover, they started singing professionally in 1988. Duranice has done a music scholarship at the O.R.M. Word Processing School and completed her graduation in music from Andrew College in LaGrange, Georgia.

She and her eight sisters Phyllis, June, Lashun, Melonda, Dejuaii, Leslie, Latrice, and Lydia together formed a popular group named The Anointed Pace Sisters.
