She was born on 19 May 1942 in Lovero, Italy. Later on, in 1950, she moved with her family to Fremantle, Western Australia.
Then her family moved to Bullfinch, WA, where she lived for several years, and Carla even completed his schooling there by attending a local school.

Carla Zampati Career
In 1965 she produced her first small collection for Zampatti Pty Limited. After two years, Carla has done a national launch, and by 1970 she established Carla Zampatti Limited.
The clothes designed by Carla have been liked by everyone since starting. In 1972, Carla opened her first boutique in Surry Hills, Sydney. Furthermore, within the next three years, her boutiques get available at various locations, including Mosman, Double Bay, and Elizabeth Street, Sydney.
Soon her company Carla Zampatti Pty Ltd owns a chain of 30 boutiques and concept stores across Australia.
In 1990 her company moved to David Jones and to Myer Stores in 1992. Moreover, Carla even signed an exclusive deal with David Jones in 2009.
In 1973, she became one of the first Australian designers to introduce swimwear into her collection. Later on, she even expands to other areas of fashion.
In 1983, she launched his first perfume with a product named Carla. The perfume was very successful. So in 1978, she came up with a second perfume product called Bellezza.
Carla has also partnered with Ford Australia to redesign a car, especially for the women’s market. Carla held several directorships, including chairman of the SBS Corporation, director of the Westfield Group, and a trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Carla has married twice. She first married Leo Schuman in 1964. However, the couple took divorced in 1970. Later on, she got married to politician John Spender in 1975. But they got separated in 2008 and took divorced in 2010.
Moreover, Carla had three children. First is Alex Schuman, who is currently the CEO of Carla Zampatti Pty Ltd. Second is Allegra Spender, CEO of Carla Zampatti Pty Ltd from 2008 to 2016. The last one is Bianca Spender, who is a designer.

Carla Zampatti Death
On 26 March 2021, she attended the opening night of La Traviata at Mrs. Macquarie’s Point on Sydney Harbour. There she was knocked unconscious and fell on a staircase.
She was immediately taken to St Vincent’s Hospital. But she died at the hospital on 3 April 2021 because of injuries. Carla was 78 years old at the time of her death.
Carla’s family accepted the offer of a state funeral from the New South Wales government. Moreover, on 15 April 2021, her service was held at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney. During the funeral, many attended wore the dress designed by Carla.
