In August 2008, he signed a four-year contract with Sunderland. Anton made a promising start to his Sunderland career, but the team’s overall performance is poor.

In January 2013, he joined the Turkish club Bursaspor on loan until the end of the season. Moreover, he played seven games for Bursaspor and helped the team to reach fourth place in the 2012–13 Super League.
Later on, in August 2013, he signed a three-year contract with the Turkish team Antalyaspor. However, he was released by the club by the end of the 2013–14 season.
During the summer of 2014, he was heavily linked with the Police United of the Thai Premier League. In August 2014, he signed a two-year contract with Reading on a free transfer.
However, he did not make a debut with Reading until November 2014. Later on, in May 2016, Anton left Reading after his contract ended.
In August 2016, he signed a one-year deal with Southend United. Furthermore, in the next year, Anton stayed at Southend United and signed a new two-year contract.
In August 2018, he left a club with mutual consent and became a free agent. Later on, in September 2018, Anton joined the Scottish Premiership side St Mirren joined.
