Benzoyl Peroxide for Acne & The Dietary Changes That Help

If you’re one of the many millions of people who already enjoy the benefits of benzoyl peroxide for acne, you’ll know just how effective it is. Although, as we’ll see as we move through this article, there are other external factors that also influence how healthy your skin looks.

One of those driving factors is the food that you put into your body. The question is, do you have a sufficiently firm grip on your diet that you know it’s not contributing to your breakouts? If not, we recommend that you stay with us as we explain the foods to aim for and those to avoid.

Foods That Support What Your Benzoyl Peroxide For Acne Does

The science behind how your diet affects your skin is still in progress, but what can’t be denied is that it has a role to play. For instance, foods high in carbs (e.g. candy, cakes, bread) are shown to result in inflammation, and while it might not be instantly visible, it will be when those breakouts come.

These foods do little to support the work done by benzoyl peroxide for acne products, and they have a nasty habit of increasing insulin levels in the body. This, in turn, can cause the production of androgen hormones that trigger extra sebum to be created – again, not good for breakouts.

Which Foods Do Support the Work of BP Washes?

What has been shown to help is a range of foods that exist at the low end of the glycemic index. That means swapping out those cakes, pastries and candies for something healthier, and while this might seem like a fairly simple step, it can be hard to implement if you’ve gotten used to the taste over time.

These foods include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Fresh fruit, to include peaches, plums, berries, apples and oranges
    • The majority of veg, such as corn, carrots, sweet potatoes and broccoli
    • Healthy grains like rolled oats, barley, and quinoa – all offer a satisfying taste
    • High protein, lean meats, such as chicken and pork
    • Eggs & nuts – believed to be good for collagen products

So, as well as keeping a close eye on what goes onto your skin, you also have to watch out for what you’re putting in your body. You don’t have to be an expert dietician or skincare expert, but you do have to have an understanding of the fundamentals, or you could be fighting a losing battle with your acne.

Use Dietary Changes & Benzoyl Peroxide For Acne Success

You have to think about your acne as a form of a mathematical equation, which means that it matters what you put into it. If your diet contains too many foods high on the glycemic index, then you’re going to struggle to get the results you want – even if you’re using the very best products on the market.

Although, if you are able to get a firm grasp on both so your skincare efforts are supported by your everyday diet, then your chances of success are going to increase exponentially. As they say, you are what you eat – so make sure what you eat is good for you and your skin.
